City votes against development project in Steele Creek

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte City Council shut down a proposal Tuesday for hundreds of apartments in a Steele Creek neighborhood.

A developer wanted to build 231 apartments at the intersection of Westinghouse Boulevard and South Tryon Street.

The developer pitched the project located near 12 industrial sites as affordable housing, but there was no deed restriction or guarantee.
