CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cleveland County Board of Education is facing scrutiny after deciding to sell the closed Marion School to One More One Less Project, a religious nonprofit organization.

The decision was made following a vote on Oct. 21, where the board agreed to begin negotiations with One More One Less Project, which focuses on fostering, adoption, and the reunification of families.
Leaders at Gaston Christian School said the school system refused to discuss selling the property to them.
