CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was shot in University City Thursday night.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. in the Microtel parking lot along East McCullough Drive.

Police said 38-year-old Virgil Hardeman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died from his injuries.
CMPD said it will release additional details as the investigation continues.
