CMPD: 2 men charged in connection with robbery, shooting at police officer in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two men were charged in connection with a robbery and shooting at a police officer in Charlotte Saturday night, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Officers said they responded to an armed robbery just after 9 p.m. on Seigle Avenue. A victim told police they were leaving their apartment and saw two suspects inside their vehicle. When the victim confronted the suspects, one of the them pointed a gun at the victim and robbed them.

The suspects later used the victim’s credit card, and police were able to find them. The suspects then left in a stolen vehicle, and officers chased them until they crashed near Interstate 85 and Graham Street.

According to police, one suspect ran away from the wreck and fired a shot from a stolen gun at an officer. Police did not shoot back at the suspect.

Authorities said they later found the suspect behind a warehouse and arrested them.

Jason Latta, 20, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, resist obstruct delay, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, and felony flee to elude. Mykaylah Pratt, 18, was charged with armed robbery and breaking and entering of a vehicle.
