News of the cancelation does not come as a surprise to parents in the district. After all, it’s not often that Charlotte gets this much snow.
We visited Latta Park Sunday afternoon and found a lot of kids and their parents enjoying the winter weather.
CMS sent out the cancelation notice around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Some parents questioned why it took so long.
All district offices and facilities will be closed Monday. Parents like Tara Beth Hostetter are concerned because kids were out during last week’s storm and things seem to be piling on.
“A little bit nervous. We were out a couple of days last week and some delayed starts. I’m a working parent, so I’m expected to work from 8-5 tomorrow, but it’s so rare that Charlotte gets this much snow,” Hostetter said. “There is a bit of excitement for my boys, I would say a mixed reaction.”
Because the superintendent made the decision to cancel, students won’t have to make up the snow day later.
As far as the rest of the week is concerned, officials are monitoring conditions and we will let you know if the schedules changes.
