CHARLOTTE — Tuesday night is the first school board meeting since Dr. Crystal Hill returned as superintendent following her nearly two-month-long suspension amid an investigation into her leadership and oversight.
Board members are expected to discuss and vote on whether to release parts of the investigation.
District 1 Rep. Dr. Charlitta Hatch told Channel 9’s Jonathan Lowe she plans to make the motion for it to be released.
While honoring personnel confidentiality, she told us the board needs to be as transparent as possible about what the investigation found, and any policy changes the board will make as a result.
Dr. Hatch says she believes any discussion and vote should be public and not during a closed session.
It will be key to watch who votes for and who votes against and how they explain their decision.
If they approve the motion, the investigative review would be released during the board’s Sept. 9 meeting.
It’s also important to know that school board members went into closed session at 2 p.m. Tuesday instead of the normal 4 p.m., just like they did two weeks ago when they decided during closed session to reinstate Dr. Hill.
We’re told they needed extra time to further discuss Dr. Hill, but it’s not clear why.
