CHARLOTTE — Only 18% of open jobs at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools were filled by teachers with previous teaching experience.
According to the Charlotte Observer, 1,300 teachers left CMS last year.

Only 232 roles were filled by teachers from other North Carolina school districts.
The CMS superintendent says they are making recruiting and retaining seasoned teachers a priority.
