MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — A year after his death, jeep owners across the Carolinas came together to honor fallen Mount Holly Police Officer Tyler Herndon.
Herndon died in the line of duty over a year ago after responding to a burglary call.
The Tyler Herndon Memorial Foundation, in partnership with Thin Blue Line Jeep Ride Club, rode through the entire Interstate 485 loop.
Organizers said more than 300 Jeeps participated in the event.
“It’s part of the healing process. It’s good to know people are coming to support us and help us carry on Tyler’s name,” Austin Cox, co-founder of the Tyler Herndon foundation, said.
They said the money raised will be used for scholarships for local high school seniors who hope to pursue a career in public safety, law enforcement and other emergency fields.
