FORT MILL, S.C. — Heartbroken family members and friends are remembering the life of Whitney Jo King.
A candlelight vigil was held Saturday night at the Red Bowl Bistro in Fort Mill.

Police said Michael Brown killed King, his girlfriend, last week at a Steele Creek apartment with her toddler in the room.
Detectives said Brown went to police and confessed.
The manager of the Red Bowl closed the doors to set up a special place to honor King’s life.
There were purple flowers, balloons and ribbons set up. King’s favorite color was purple.
King’s closest friends told Channel 9 the color also has a significant meaning, bringing awareness to domestic violence.
Family and friends spent the night sharing memories of King.
"I lost it, just shocked, devastating,” friend Lisa Eaton said. “I just loved her. She was a wonderful, wonderful girl."
King leaves behind a 6-month-old son.
King’s co-workers are raising money for her son. The manager said they are working to on put on special fundraisers at the restaurant.
