CHARLOTTE — Dozens of Charlotte Water customers are asking for permission not to follow the mandatory water restrictions.
A spokesperson for Charlotte Water says 49 customers have requested variances, or exemptions from the ongoing restrictions.

The utility company says it is reviewing all of the requests.
While Charlotte Water cannot share customer details, a spokesperson said most of the exceptions are for watering because of a new lawn installation.
