CHARLOTTE — A college student is recovering in a hospital after police said a driver intentionally hit him Sunday in University City.
Kentrell Watkins was walking outside of Stats Bar and Restaurant when the incident happened.
"The person that hit my brother, the bar was actually making him leave the place, because he was being very, very belligerent,” said Kentrell Watkin’s brother, Kenneth Watkins.

Kentrell Watkins said his brother bumped into the driver and the two exchanged words.
"The guy was telling Kentrell, ‘Why did you bump into me?’ Kentrell said, ‘I didn't mean to’ and walked off,” he said.
Moments later, the brother said the driver went into his car and drove into Kentrell Watkins.
“When he hit my brother, the impact caused him to slide upwards, and he fell down on the windshield,” he explained.
While Kentrell Watkins was on the windshield, his brother said the man drove straight into the restaurant and then drove off.
"He has a fractured shoulder. He has a lot of facial fractures, a punctured lung, broken rib, two broken arms and he fractured a minor fracture of his ankle and pelvic fracture as well," Kenneth Watkins said.
The family is now asking the person responsible to come forward.
“I do want this person to know we forgive him for what he did. However, we want him to do the right thing,” he said.
The victim and suspect did not know each other, according to a police report.
The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
CMPD tells Channel 9 the incident is still being actively investigated but no one has been charged at this time.
No further information has been released.
