CHARLOTTE — Duke Energy is laying roots at the River District in west Charlotte.
The utility brought 27 acres near Garrison Road.

According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the project will create 2,300 homes and 8 million square feet of commercial space.
The developer said it could take decades to fill.
