CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands will have to brave the cold for Saturday morning's Charlotte Marathon uptown which will feature tight security.

"In the start-line area, the finish-line area, we do have a plan in conjunction with (Charlotte-Mecklenburg police)," course logistics manager Tom Deming said. “They’re telling us what they need to do and what we need to do, as well, and we follow it. I think we’re going to be very safe."
