Feds may fine companies responsible for robocalls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A company that tracks unwanted phone calls said there were 5 billion of them last month, which equals about 2,000 robocalls per second.

Federal lawmakers are thinking of fining the callers $10,000 for each robocall.

They would expect phone companies to develop new technology to identify unwanted calls before they get to you.
