GASTONIA, N.C. — The Gastonia Police Department is getting an in-house rapid DNA system to help them process samples faster.
The department said the technology takes hours instead of weeks or even months.

According to officers, it will help the department find leads more quickly and accurately.
It’s paid for with a 600,000 grant, according to the Gaston Gazette.
