Murder arrest made after missing Gastonia woman’s body found in woods

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gastonia police announced Tuesday night they made a homicide arrest in the case of a woman who was reported missing last month.

Cherie Shavon Ingram was last seen on March 27 leaving a home on S. South Street. Her body was found on April 12 in the woods along North Broad Street.

Pernell has been booked into the Gaston County Jail.

Keon Latroy Pernell, 40, of Garysburg, North Carolina, was charged with first-degree murder in her death.

Police have not released any further information.
