GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia woman has received her money back after she was charged for a surgery she never had.

In February, Angela Sistrunk told Channel 9 that a plastic surgery center in Miami called CG Cosmetics opened a line of credit without her content.

“I figured when you get preapproved, you swipe the card when you’re ready to pay for it,” Sistruck said.

“There were two charges, one one day and one the next. Two different charges. One for $4,501. One for $5,500,” Sistrunk told Channel 9.

Sistruck said the center charged $10,000 to her card.

After Channel 9 investigative reporter Madison Carter stepped in, Sistruck said was able to get $9,000 back. However, the company refused to return the rest of it.

A representative for the company told 9 Investigates that was a “mistake” on both sides. The company now has an F-rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Florida’s Attorney General said they were already monitoring the practice after receiving several complaints.

CG Cosmetics could face up to a $1 million penalty if the AG’s office determines the company has violated a previous agreement to stop deceiving customers.
