CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced Tuesday he would veto a bill requiring a new primary election if fraud in the 9th Congressional District race is discovered.

November election results showed Republican Mark Harris had a 905-vote lead over Democratic challenger Dan McCready.
Cooper sat down with Eyewitness News exclusively to talk about why he would veto the bill. Watch the video above to hear what he had to say about the issue.
Weeks later, the state's elections board refused to confirm the victory after allegations of absentee ballot fraud surfaced.
