CHARLOTTE — The 145th Airlift Wing Safety Office recently partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Wildlife Office to safely capture a Red-tailed Hawk spotted between active runways, the N.C. Air National Guard said in a Facebook post.

The Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard team conducted the operation. The effort aimed to prevent bird strikes, keep aircrews safe and protect aircraft from costly damage.
After being safely captured, the hawk was transported and released into a secure environment 60 miles away from the airfield.
