CHARLOTTE — A man is dead after a shooting took place in a west Charlotte community Sunday night.
Channel 9’s Glenn Counts spoke with family and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers who say the incident started as an argument.
Officers responded to a call in the 8100 block of Paw Club Drive around 6 p.m. Firefighters were already there by the time police arrived.
The Charlotte Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
The two men who were arguing knew each other.
Police say there was an altercation and neighbors tell us at least three shots were fired.
A resident said the victim will be truly missed.
Police say that no argument is worth a tragedy like this.
“An argument or altercation, it just can’t end in gunfire. There has to be a better way to resolve something. Whether it be walking away, calling somebody,” said Major Michael Ford. “But anytime something ends in gunfire, there is no turning back from that and there has to be a better way to end those things. So we’re standing out here talking about someone tragically losing their life.”
Police are talking to the other party that was involved in the altercation, so they are not looking for any additional suspects.
We asked officers if the parties are related, but they are not answering that question at this time.
