CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday evening in an east Charlotte apartment complex.
Officers said they responded just before 7 p.m. to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 1400 block of Eastcrest Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from apparent life-threatening injuries. MEDIC pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Channel 9 spoke with a neighbor who said he just moved from out of state to this complex last week.
“It felt like a pretty safe neighborhood until today. I see police sirens, come down to see what’s happening, and find out somebody was actually killed; it is a little bit disturbing. Especially since I thought the area was such a great neighborhood,” said new resident Michael Syler.
Police have not released the victim’s identity or information about a possible suspect.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the homicide unit at 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and ask to speak with Detective Barnett.
