HICKORY, N.C. — A man accused of breaking into a church in Hickory is facing several charges after he was caught by several members of the congregation Sunday.
The pastor at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church said the thief pried a brick out of the ground and then, broke out the front window of the church less than an hour before Sunday school started.

“My first thought is how many people are in the building and will anyone be hurt by this person,” Pastor Gaven Mize said. “It’s sad and it breaks our heart to see it has happened, but we do have to forgive.”
