GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A dog working with Gaston County police helped officers take a man into custody on Tuesday.
K-9 Conner found Justin Becker, who is accused of breaking and entering, hiding inside the crawl space of a house near Bessemer City, police said.
Officers first responded to the area after reports that a man was driving his Ford Explorer through open fields and farm land.
Becker couldn’t get into the house, so he hid in the crawl space.
When Becker’s car got stuck in a field, he ran and tried to break into a house in the 700 block of Kiser Road, police said.
Officers called K-9 Officer R. L. Waldrop and K-9 Conner to the scene to apprehend Becker.
Becker has been charged with breaking and entering and resist, delay and obstruction.
He was treated for the dog bite to his left forearm and then taken to the Gaston County Jail. He is under a $10,000 secured bond.
