CHARLOTTE — The price of a lot of things you buy is about to go up next week in Mecklenburg County.
The sales tax increase for transit goes into effect on Wednesday.

It will raise the sales tax from 7.25% to 8.25%.
This will affect items such as clothes, electronics, prepared food, and alcohol.
It will not impact prescription drugs, gas, or most groceries.
