CHARLOTTE — A 15-year-old juvenile suspect has been arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department following an assault with a deadly weapon incident that left three people with gunshot wounds on Thursday at approximately 5:20 p.m. in Uptown.

The shooting happened in the 500 block of North Davidson Street. Upon arrival, officers located one juvenile victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. A short time later, an adult victim and a second juvenile victim arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds, police said. Officers determined all three victims were from the same shooting.
Following an investigation, officers obtained probable cause to charge one of the injured juveniles. The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with assault with a deadly weapon—inflicting serious injury, possession of a handgun by a minor and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
The juvenile is currently in custody while receiving medical care, CMPD said.
The Department of Juvenile Justice has approved a petition for a Secure Custody Order for the juvenile.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
