MONROE, N.C. — Police in Monroe want drivers to avoid Walkup Avenue near Alda Drive.

Several cars, and even a tractor-trailer, slid off the pavement.
Police say just steer clear of this road for now, until the North Carolina Department of Transportation can break up the ice.
