Water main break closes road in Monroe for the day

MONROE, N.C. — A water main break Wednesday has caused two westbound lanes of Highway 74 in Monroe to be closed.

City officials said the 12-inch water main was damaged by a contractor.

It is located in front of the Food Lion and Truist Bank, across from Atrium Health Union.

Repairs were made to the damaged water main.

The water service was being restored Wednesday night.

Roadway repairs will be completed Thursday morning, officials said.
