ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A new grocery store has signed an agreement to move into the space where Harris Teeter used to be in Albemarle.
Carlie C’s IGA is moving into the First Street Station shopping center.
It’s an independently owned, family-operated grocer based in the Carolinas.
The company has 33 locations.

Channel 9 reported earlier this year that people who live in Albemarle had concerns about losing a grocery store.
“We’re pleased to welcome Carlie C’s IGA to Albemarle. Our community has made it clear that it wants a variety of retail options. City Council and City staff listened and got to work. We look forward to seeing this store and others become part of our growing local economy,” said Ronnie Michael, Mayor of Albemarle.
Carlie C’s plans to hire 60 people.
