Night Swim Coffee to open cafe at South End apartment tower now under construction

CHARLOTTE — Night Swim Coffee will open its sixth Charlotte location at 2161 Hawkins, an apartment tower currently under construction in South End.

The local coffee roaster has signed a lease for 623 square feet at the 24-story, 318,000-square-foot tower slated to deliver in mid- to late 2024. Night Swim Coffee was co-founded in 2021 by Black Rock Hospitality Group, a partnership between the teams behind Not Just Coffee and Undercurrent Coffee.

James Yoder, Night Swim Coffee co-founder, said opening a location in South End was always part of the plan when they launched the brand.

“From the very beginning, opening a Night Swim Coffee in South End was our goal, and partnering with Portman (Holdings) on this was the ideal relationship,” he said. “We’re confident Night Swim Coffee will add value to the area’s office workers, residents and visitors, and (we) look forward to this exciting next chapter for our company.”
