CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigation into alleged secret peeping at an Old Navy in Charlotte led police to discover more than 200 videos allegedly recorded with hidden cameras inside a Charlotte residence.
The case against 25-year-old Dylan Keanu Hampton began with allegations involving public dressing rooms, including one warrant accusing him of secretly peeping into an occupied Old Navy dressing room at SouthPark Mall in July, police said.
Three months later on Oct. 11, employees at the Old Navy at Charlotte Premium Outlets found a black camera underneath a dressing room bench after the store closed, according to search warrants.
Surveillance footage showed the person they identified as Hampton inside the store for more than two hours, investigators said. Employees said most of that time was spent in the dressing room.

Hampton was arrested later that month.
Investigators said they discovered more than 200 videos on his devices that were apparently recorded using three cameras, two installed in a bedroom and another in a bathroom.
Some allegedly showed a woman partially or fully nude.
Investigators say Hampton can also be seen in some videos appearing to install, test or check the devices.
The affidavit also said investigators found evidence of purchases for cameras advertised as “hidden” and says Hampton had left reviews praising the “discreet” nature of two devices.
Hampton now faces multiple felony secret peeping charges.
Channel 9 reached out to Old Navy management to ask what safety measures the company is taking after the incident.
“At Old Navy, the safety and privacy of our customers are our top priorities,” a company spokesperson said. “We referred this matter to law enforcement and are cooperating with their investigation.”
How to spot a possible hidden camera
9 Investigates has looked into hidden camera concerns in the past, and there are ways you can spot devices to help protect yourself.
Law enforcement officials say to watch for a red blinking light that could indicate a hidden camera.
You can also monitor nearby devices in your Wi-Fi settings for a possible camera signal.
Hidden camera lens detectors are also available to buy online.
