CHARLOTTE — One person died and another was taken to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 85 in north Charlotte, paramedics said.
The crash happened at around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of I-85 near Concord Mills Boulevard.
Mecklenburg County EMS said one person died at the scene, while a second person in life-threatening condition was rushed to the hospital.
Traffic was backed up in the area all the way past Mallard Creek Church Road for several hours Wednesday morning.

Channel 9 has reached out to authorities for more information but has not heard back at this point.
