Second arrest made in fatal shooting 41-year-old man in northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged a second suspect in the shooting death of a man last weekend in northeast Charlotte.

Officers have arrested Jaquarius Octavius Bryant and charged him with first-degree murder in the shooting of Ray Garlins.

Police had already arrested and charged 21-year-old Darius Platt in the shooting.

CMPD officers were patrolling the area when they heard gunshots, and a call for an assault with a deadly weapon came in.

Officers responded to the scene just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Finchley Drive near Eastway Drive.

They went to a home and found Garlins, who had been shot. Officials confirmed he died at the scene.
