Police in Belmont search for car after bank robbery

BELMONT, N.C. — Police in Belmont are looking for a car after the South State Bank on East Woodrow Avenue was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

A man wearing black with a black face mask went into the bank at 4:03 p.m., witnesses told police.

The robber showed a note demanding money.

No weapons were shown and there were no injuries.

He left in an older model, burgundy Mazda 626 heading north on Park Street toward Wilkinson Boulevard.

The tag had previously been reported stolen.
