HICKORY, N.C. — Police are still working to identify a human skull found near a popular swimming area.

Investigators in Boone say someone found the skull earlier this month near a dam along Winkler’s Creek.
The Watauga Democrat reports initial exams haven’t produced any answers.
Investigators say they’ve identified 18 missing persons cases as potential matches.
