Officials said the multi-vehicle crash happened just after 1 p.m. on the Yadkin River Bridge off Interstate 85 southbound.

I-85 southbound was shut down at the bridge for several hours as crews removed the tractor-trailer and cleaned the scene, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

According to the Salisbury Fire Department, workers were able to stabilize the trailer as hazmat crews worked to safely remove fuel to avoid an explosion.

There is no word on if anyone was hurt.
