CHARLOTTE — Severe thunderstorm damage across the Charlotte metro area caused multiple power outages on Saturday.

Nearly 2,000 people are without power in the Providence Park and Myers Park neighborhoods.
Power is expected to be restored by 12:30 a.m. on Sunday for the residents affected.
Duke Energy says the outage was caused by a lightning strike.
