La’jayais Simpson said she saw the crimes happen and called the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The victims said Wednesday they just moved into the apartments from out of town last weekend.

“I was a little shocked,” Simpson said. “I was a little stunned. I was in tears because at that moment, I didn’t know what to do.”

The victims said the vandals didn’t steal any belongings from the cars.

A spokesperson for The Livano Tryon released a statement that read, “Providing an environment where residents are safe and feel secure is our top priority. Along with our standard safety protocols, we have a previously established security contract with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and will continue to take proactive measures.”
