ROCKHINGHAM, N.C. — Rockingham Speedway, also known as “The Rock,” is up for auction nine months after it was purchased by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA). The track’s owner is Daryl Cuttel, CEO of Darana Motorsports Holdings. In a release, it said Cuttel decided to sell the properties as part of its exit from the racing business.

Tim Mast, president of Tranzon Atlas said they were engaged by Darana Motorsports Holdings to conduct the auction process, which includes the sale of The Rock, and 11 other racetracks and motorsports properties across the county.
Mast said it will be a hybrid sealed-bid auction, with sealed bids due Nov. 17. He told Channel 9 there is no limit on the number of bids that can be received; however, only the top three bids within 25% of the highest bid will be considered for any subsequent round of bids.
The properties include:
- Atlanta Dragway — Commerce, Georgia
- Dragway 42 — West Salem, Ohio
- Darana (Galot) Motorsports Park — Benson, North Carolina
- Piedmont Dragway — Julian, North Carolina
- Empire Dragway — Leicester, New York
- Heartland Motorsports Park — Topeka, Kansas
- Kil-Kare Raceway — Xenia, Ohio
- Memphis International Raceway — Millington, Tennessee
- Milan Dragway — Milan, Michigan
- National Trail Raceway — Hebron, Ohio
- Rockingham Speedway — Rockingham, North Carolina
- Virginia Motorsports Park — Dinwiddie, Virginia
“It is extraordinarily rare for this many established motorsports properties to come to market at the same time,” said Mast. “These facilities have recognizable names, established racing histories and substantial infrastructure in markets across the country. While we expect strong interest from the racing community, the size, location and improvements associated with many of these properties also create opportunities for developers and other real estate investors. Buyers can pursue a purchase now or participate through the auction process in November.”
