CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The South Carolina Gamecocks are headed to the Final Four. And so are the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Gamecocks beat the Florida Gators, 77-70, during Sunday’s Elite 8 matchup. Then, a couple hours later, the Tar Heels defeated Kentucky on a last-second basket.

With USC and UNC competing in the Elite 8, it was a big day business for area restaurant and bars.

Management said they had to add staff Sunday, as well as Friday’s Sweet 16 games.

Moo and Brew in Plaza Midwood was packed with Tar Heel fans. It was standing room only inside Flight in Uptown Charlotte.

James Korpela, Flight’s sales and events manager, said the bar made four times as much revenue than a typical Friday.

“It helps tremendously,” Korpela said, “We're very appreciative to the Gamecock club and fans.”

Local bars and restaurants expect the added business to continue as the NCAA tournament continues into the Final Four, which tips off on Saturday.
