Voters who cast a Democratic ballot in last month’s primaries in South Carolina will not be able to vote in the special Republican primary for U.S. Senate next month.

The South Carolina Election Commission says it made this determination after reviewing state law.
The Aug. 11 primary will be open to voters who participated in the June Republican primary and people who did not vote.
Early voting for the primary will be Aug. 5-7.
