CHARLOTTE, N.C. — We're one month into the school year and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has already seen six schools get a low grade on their health inspection.
During the same period last school year, only one school got a low grade, compared to the six so far this year.

The elementary school was dinged for leaks and water stains on the ceiling, which was a repeat problem as well as pink and black residue on the water fountains and dirty bathrooms.
Oaklawn Elementary School was inspected Monday and scored an 88.5, which is a "B" grade.
CMS has said they want all of their schools to get an "A" on their health inspection scores.
This is similar to the problems reported at the other five elementary schools -- Hidden Valley, Montlcaire, Merry Oaks, Rama Road and Winterfield.
Last year during the same time period, about five percent of schools got a "B" score. This year, it is up to 10 percent.
