CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An Iredell County math teacher who was suspended with pay last week is under investigation for “possible improper conduct,” according to school officials.
Iredell-Statesville Schools said Friday that Agriculture and Science Early College math teacher Elizabeth L. Wright, 30, was suspended with pay on Aug. 13 pending an investigation by the Iredell Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, Channel 9 learned the suspension was due to a report of “suspicious activity.” The sheriff’s office said a report was filed by the district in reference to possible improper conduct by a teacher.
According to the report, a parent had found social media communications between her child and a teacher which were deemed inappropriate. After detectives reviewed the report, interviewed witnesses and executed search warrants, Wright was charged with felony taking indecent liberties with a student by a teacher.
Wright has been employed with the district since 2012. She worked as a math teacher at North Iredell Middle School from 2012-2017.
