Troopers ID victim in deadly head-on collision in Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision early Friday in Chester County.

The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 21 near Fincher Road, about 5 miles north of Fort Lawn.

Channel 9′s South Carolina bureau reporter Greg Suskin reported that the coroner said the crash was a head-on collision.

Investigators said the driver, Arthur Lee Butler, 50, of Catawba, who died drifted across the center line and collided with a pickup truck. They were not wearing a seatbelt.

Butle , who was wearing a seatbelt, was rushed to the hospital and later died.
