Troopers identify 85-year-old victim in deadly York County crash

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed an 85-year-old driver in York County.

It happened just after 5 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Old York Road and Mount Gallant Road.

Officials say the driver of a Honda Sedan, Ruth Orme, of Rock Hill, died after a pickup truck driver hit them as they tried turning onto Mount Gallant Road. Orme died at the scene, and the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital. There’s no word on their injuries.

Autopsy and toxicology are pending.
