MATTHEWS, N.C. — Amanda asked Channel 9 not to use her last name. She says she went to Furniture the Luxe in Matthews in September and bought a sectional for $1,136.
She told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke the store promised to deliver it in 3 to 5 weeks. She said five weeks came and went, but she “didn’t hear anything from them.”

She said she called multiple times and got the runaround, all the way into December.
“If I got an attorney, the attorney fees would be more than the couch, so I was like, ‘Well, I’ll just email the news and see what they can do,’” she told Stoogenke
And she did. Stoogenke emailed the store. It didn’t respond, but -- four days later -- she says it gave all of her money back.
“I feel a lot better now. It was very frustrating just because you put your trust in a company, you pay them, you expect the product that you’re paying for.”
Sabrina Riley told Stoogenke a similar story.
She says she bought a sofa and ottoman in May for about $1,100 as well. She says the store delivered it, but it was the wrong color. So, she says, the business gave her the floor model in the meantime, and then gave her the runaround for months.

She says, in November, she demanded the store take the floor model back and give her a refund. She says it took the furniture, but didn’t give her money back.
“It’s terrible. It’s terrible. I feel like I’ve been robbed,” she said. “End of the day, I’m the paying customer and I paid and I never received my merchandise.
Action 9 is still working on Riley’s case. Stoogenke emailed the store December 26. He didn’t hear back so he hand-delivered a letter January 6. He still hadn’t heard back in time for this report.
The Better Business Bureau gave Furniture the Luxe an “F” rating.
