YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A person died on Lake Wylie, the York County Sheriff’s Office said in an update on Thursday afternoon.
They jumped off a boat into the lake and didn’t resurface near Little Allison Creek, the sheriff’s office stated.

At 3:07 p.m., the sheriff’s office posted on social media that the person was found and that CPR was in progress. Crews tried life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.
“This tragedy should be a reminder to boaters as we go into summer boating season to take safety seriously and wear a life jacket when in the water,” the sheriff said in a 4:10 p.m. post.
