CHARLOTTE — The countdown is on for Charlotte’s first Wegmans grocery store.
Channel 9 got a sneak peek inside the new Ballantyne location ahead of its grand opening next Wednesday.
The 110,000-square-foot store is located off North Community House Road and will employ about 450 people.
Inside, shoppers will find an indoor and outdoor café, plus 15 full-service checkout lanes and 23 self-checkout stations. The store is also known for its fresh produce and ready-to-eat meals.

The Ballantyne location will be one of the first Wegmans stores to feature a dedicated kids area.
Store manager Patrick McGuinness said employees are central to the company’s approach to customer service.
“We’ve hired some amazing people. Our focus has always been our people. Our people will take care of our customers,” McGuinness said.
The store opens next Wednesday and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
