BALLANTYNE, N.C. — Wegmans store managers are working out traffic and tailgating logistics ahead of the highly anticipated Ballantyne store opening set for Oct. 14.
The grocery chain said it’s coordinating with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to direct traffic and ease congestions around Community House Road, according to The Charlotte Observer.
Many community members have expressed excitement about the area’s latest grocery venture, so Wegmans is preparing for a large crowd on opening day. Officials say shoppers will be allowed to camp out in the parking lot before doors open. They’ll even have portable restrooms.
The store is still hiring for part-time jobs and specialized full-time rolls.
Wegmans also recently entered an agreement with Atrium Health to buy land at the corner of Westmoreland and Statesville Roads in Cornelius.
The chain said it’s evaluating the site as a possible grocery store location.
