CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Considering the commonly accepted principle that higher levels of education translate to higher incomes, it should come as no surprise that Charlotte’s wealthiest ZIP code is also its most educated.

The 28207 ZIP, containing the Myers Park and Eastover neighborhoods, has the highest share of its population holding bachelor’s and advanced degrees of any in the 16-county Charlotte region, according to data provided by American City Business Journals, parent company of the Charlotte Business Journal.

Average earnings for adults increase with years of education and particularly with degree completion. According to a College Board study, the percentage of full-time year-round workers age 35 to 44 earning $100,000 or more ranged from 2% of those without a high school diploma and 5% of high school graduates to 25% of those whose highest attainment was a bachelor’s degree and 38% of advanced degree holders.
In 28207, over 81% of the adult population has a bachelor’s degree and almost 34% of adults hold an advanced degree. Also in that ZIP code, 36.1% of households earn more than $200,000 annually.
