NEWTON, N.C. — A woman said she robbed two fast-food restaurants because she needed money to bail her girlfriend out of jail, police said.

On Saturday, Ashley Riser, 45, of Concord, used a pellet gun to rob the Burger King on Southwest Boulevard in Newton, the Holiday Inn on 10th Street Northwest in Conover and the Taco Bell on U.S. Highway Southeast in Hickory.
Shortly after those robberies, police found her in the Catawba County jail’s lobby trying to bail her girlfriend out.
She was detained and is under a $40,000 secured bond.
